Every year, the Bach Festival delights visitors from all over the world. This year, there was even a virtual encounter with the famous composer.

The Leipzig Bach Festival came to an end with the performance of the Mass in B minor in Leipzig's St. Thomas Church. According to the organizers, around 75,000 visitors from 53 nations attended the partly experimental formats.

Under the motto "Transformation", around 200 events were on the program since the opening on 12 June. The aim was to make the transformations of the composer Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) comprehensible.

Director Michael Maul was "overjoyed and relieved" that the concept had worked with both traditional and experimental events. For example, augmented reality had enabled a virtual encounter with Bach - at the virtual concert "Virtual Bach Experience".

According to the organizers, more than 3,500 participants took part in the Bach Festival events - including around 38 choirs, almost 1,800 singers and 34 orchestras.
