Admission to the permanent exhibitions of municipal museums in Leipzig is to become free of charge from 2024. This proposal was agreed in the mayor's service consultation, the city announced on Monday. The city council still has to agree to it, it said. At the same time, the museums are given the opportunity to slightly increase the prices for particularly elaborate special exhibitions.
The permanent exhibitions in the Museum of City History, the Museum of Natural History and the Museum of Fine Arts are to be free of charge. This arrangement is also being considered for the Grassi Museum of Applied Arts, the Museum of Ethnology and the Museum of Musical Instruments.
