Lama Lost in the Ore Mountains—Search Underway

A llama has run away in Neudorf in the Ore Mountains. As its owner explained over the phone, she noticed that morning that the five-year-old animal named Keks had run off.

The owner had recently sold some of her alpacas, with which Keks had previously grazed together in the pasture. “Maybe he was homesick,” she speculated about the animal. Keks had never run away before.

The llama has not yet been found. They are searching for him, said owner Cindy Jokisch. The Chemnitz police were also unaware of the llama’s return. Forest workers reportedly spotted him in the Sachsenforst, but were unable to capture him there. That isn’t so easy, the owner explained, since llamas are flight animals. 

Anyone who spots Keks should therefore notify the police. Drivers should drive slowly, Jokisch said.
