Nearly 700 tradespeople acquired a master craftsman's certificate in Saxony last year. This means that the number of new master craftsmen was roughly on a par with previous years, as announced by the Chamber of Skilled Crafts on Monday.

In 2022, 710 people had acquired a master craftsman qualification, compared to 709 in 2021. This year, the Chamber of Skilled Crafts expects the number to exceed 700 again.

As before, there are significantly more men than women among the master craftsmen: Of the exact 694 master craftsman certificates, 105 went to female graduates. This corresponds to a share of 15.2 percent.

The most new master craftsman titles were awarded to automotive technicians, plumbers and heating engineers. A beautician born in 1963 from Radebeul near Dresden was the oldest master craftswoman to graduate last year. The youngest master craftsman came from Borna near Leipzig - a bricklayer and concrete worker born in 2004.
