In Saxony, several towns along the Autobahn 4 are to be relieved of through and heavy traffic. As part of the two-year traffic trial, the state roads S 36, S 195 and S 196 in the districts of Central Saxony, Meißen and Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains will be closed to vehicles over 7.5 tons, as announced by the Saxon Ministry of Infrastructure.
The traffic trial should lead to fewer heavy vehicles in the villages and greater safety on everyday routes. The aim is also to reduce noise and exhaust fumes. At the same time, roads and structures should be protected from further destructive stress, it was said. Critical conditions have already been reached on some bridge structures in particular.
