In Saxony, the number of business registrations increased last year: According to the State Statistical Office in Kamenz, a total of 28,704 new businesses were registered at the relevant offices. This corresponds to an increase of 8.4 percent compared to the previous year. The number of business deregistrations rose by 0.5 percent in the same period. According to the statistics, an average of 100 registrations were offset by around 88 deregistrations.
Around 38 percent of registrants were female. Around one in ten businesses were registered by founders with Polish, Ukrainian, Syrian or Romanian citizenship.
Most registrations - just under 40 percent - were in the motor vehicle, construction and hospitality sectors. As in the previous year, the highest number of deregistrations - around 24 percent - were in the retail sector.
