Saxony's Minister of Economic Affairs, Dirk Panter, is calling for a coordinated approach by the federal government, the states, and the business community to protect companies from drone attacks. The Free State is prepared to fulfill its responsibility in countering threats, the SPD politician told the German Press Agency in Dresden. At the same time, he said, there is a need for uniform nationwide standards, modern technical capabilities, and stronger support.
Companies Must Also Take Precautions
According to Panter, the government cannot fully protect every facility around the clock. “Operators of critical facilities and those requiring special protection must also take precautions, analyze risks, and invest in appropriate protective measures. It is important here that government security measures and operational facility protection work together seamlessly, even across state borders. That is why the federal government also has a responsibility here,” said the minister.
Identify threats early and act quickly in an emergency
“Our goal must be to identify threats early, clearly define responsibilities, and be able to act quickly in an emergency. To achieve this, we do not need conflict between the federal government, the states, and companies, but rather clear responsibilities and cooperation,” Panter concluded. For this to work, uniform standards for software and technology are needed, including for private operators.
