The volleyball players of Dresdner SC make a perfect start to the season. The German cup winners beat champions Schwerin to win the Supercup.

Dresdner SC's volleyball players have won the Supercup for the second time since 2021. In the tenth edition of the competition, the cup winners beat German champions SSC Palmberg Schwerin 3:1 (25:18, 32:24, 25:22, 25:23) in their home arena. The team from the city on the Elbe thus managed a small revenge, as the East duel was also a rematch of last season's play-off final.

As a result, Alexander Waibl's team secured their first title of the new season, while the team from Mecklenburg will have to wait for their fifth triumph in this competition. Felix Koslowski's team last won the Supercup in 2020.

The hosts got off to a very focused start in front of a sell-out crowd of 3,000. They put Schwerin under pressure with their tasks, scored points themselves from a stable reception and their defense was always wide awake. The champions got into the game better in the second half thanks to several changes, stabilized their reception and increased their penetration in attack. Both teams played out an exciting exchange of blows until the end.

DSC misses five set points

DSC missed a total of five set points in crunch time, while Schwerin capitalized on the sixth chance with a serve from young international Leana Grozer. Dresden dictated proceedings again in the third period, in particular through the almost unstoppable Marta Levinska (32 points in total) and Japanese newcomer Miku Akimoto (19), who produced a convincing performance on her debut in a DSC jersey. It remained tight in the fourth period, but Waibl's team proved to be more stable.
