Interior Minister Armin Schuster praised the racing weekend at the Sachsenring as a strong signal from Saxony. “Year after year, Saxony attracts the cream of international motorcycle racing to the Sachsenring with the MotoGP,” said the CDU politician, according to a statement released on the sidelines of the Grand Prix. “Together with the annual attendance records, this sends a strong signal—especially now—from a region where motorsports and automotive engineering have traditionally been closely linked.”
The Grand Prix at the Sachsenring is one of Germany’s largest single-sport events. This year, the organizers reported a record attendance of 261,831 visitors. The motorsports event generated significant international exposure for the Free State, according to the Ministry of the Interior.
During his visit, Schuster also presented a grant notification in the amount of 100,000 euros for the junior series “Moto4 Northern Cup.” The funds are intended to contribute to the sustainable development of young motorsport talent.
