Saxony's ski resorts are getting ready: New prices, investments in lifts and technology as well as discounts for season passes are on the horizon.

Preparations for the ski season in Saxony are in full swing. In the coming days, the Fichtelberg cable car will make its new conditions available online, said an employee. Advance sales for season ski passes will start online from the first of November, when early bookers can receive a discount of up to 30 percent on the 420 euro ski pass for adults. A regular day ski pass should cost 35 euros in the pre-season until December 19 and then 41 euros in the main season until March 9.

In Altenberg, a day pass for adults this season costs 24 euros. According to Jeremias Kümpel, Managing Director of Wiegand Erlebnisberge, this is a price increase of one euro. The price for children remains at 18 euros. The season ski pass will cost 190 euros for adults and 115 euros for children. Among other things, investments have been made in the lift facilities, additional LED lighting and a new snow cannon and the resort is now looking forward to the new winter season, says Kümpel.

Oberwiesenthal is located at the foot of the almost 1,215-metre-high Fichtelberg. It is home to the largest ski resort in Saxony. It offers ten slopes with runs for beginners and advanced skiers. The total length is around ten kilometers. Cross-country skiing, tobogganing and a natural ice rink also attract visitors in winter.
