The VfB Suhl women’s volleyball team has won the Super Cup for the first time in the club’s history. In a rematch of the championship final, the double champions defeated Dresdner SC 3-0 (26-24, 29-27, 25-23) and prevented the defending champions from claiming their third Super Cup title. Svea Naujack was Suhl’s top scorer with 16 points. For Dresden, Mackenzie Foley—who had celebrated success with Suhl just last year—was the top scorer with 12 points. Both teams had to undergo major changes during the summer break. Eight players left Dresden, and seven left Suhl. Dresden seemed to be on track in the first set at 11–7 before Suhl found its rhythm. But the Thuringian team also faltered after building a 22–18 lead and squandered two set points at 24–22, before an ace sealed the set for Suhl. Dresden also got off to a better start in the second set and quickly took a 14–8 lead. But Suhl fought back to 17–18, tied the score at 21–21, and converted their first set point to win 29–27. The Dresden women, who would have tied the record-holding champions Allianz MTV Stuttgart and SSC Palmberg Schwerin with a potential third victory, also took an early lead in the third set. But Suhl took the initiative by tying the score at 11–11 and didn’t let the victory slip away. Copyright 2026, dpa (www.dpa.de). All rights reservedUpheaval in Suhl and Dresden
