Magdeburg loses to Karlsruher SC despite rebellion

Once again, a Magdeburg mistake leads to a goal against

Coach Petrik Sander made changes to the regulars at 1. FC Magdeburg: Marcus Mathisen was left on the bench and Silas Gnaka started instead. Richmond Tachie replaced Gladbach loanee Noah Pesch at right-back. Tachie also had the first opportunity of the match, heading a ball at the far post onto the outside of the net (1st). A fast-paced game then developed, with KSC often getting into pressing situations and putting the hosts under pressure.

The FCM often tried from distance, but the balls were usually too central. Ben Farhat took advantage of an unnecessary misplaced pass from Jean Hugonet to give the visitors the lead (20'). Coach Sander made adjustments at the break, bringing on Mathisen and Dariusz Stalmach for Hugonet and Gnaka. This had no effect on the pitch: FCM did not defend consistently in their own penalty area and the visitors increased their lead through Ben Farhat.
