Second division soccer club 1. FC Magdeburg has signed attacker Torben Müsel. The 26-year-old comes to the Elbe from Rot-Weiss Essen on a free transfer, as his contract with the third division club has expired. As usual, FCM did not disclose the length of his new contract.
Müsel came through all of the youth teams at 1. FC Kaiserslautern and made his second division debut in September 2017. After eight more games in the lower divisions, Borussia Mönchengladbach secured the services of the 1.85-metre attacking player. He played two Bundesliga games and became a junior international. In the 2021/22 winter transfer window, he joined the then Belgian first division club KAS Eupen on loan, for whom he made a total of nine appearances. After returning to Germany, he joined third-division club Rot-Weiss Essen in January 2023, where he scored 27 times and contributed ten assists in 141 competitive matches.
"Torben Müsel has recently shown in the 3rd division that he is an absolute top scorer with plenty of experience and understanding of the game. His good timing in the box is particularly noticeable. He always finds the right spaces and positions there," said FCM sporting director Peer Jaekel.
