National player Timo Werner has made a good debut for Tottenham Hotspur. The striker, who is on loan from RB Leipzig, set up Rodrigo Bentancur's second Tottenham goal in the 2:2 (1:2) draw at English record champions Manchester United on Sunday. Werner moved to the north London club last week on loan until the end of the season. He previously made his last Premier League appearance in a Chelsea FC shirt on May 7, 2022.
The 27-year-old replaced South Korean Son Heung-Min, who was away at the Asian Cup, on the left wing. Werner had the first Spurs chance with a header (11th minute). Shortly before the break, a shot just missed the post (45'). Shortly after the break, Werner set up his teammate Bentancur, who finished to make it 2:2 (46'). The agile Werner was substituted after 80 minutes.
Rasmus Höjlund (3) and Marcus Rashford (40) scored for the Red Devils in the first half. Brazilian Richarlison headed in a corner to level the score at 1-1 for Spurs (19). Tottenham remain fifth in the table, while Manchester United are seventh.
