FC Schalke 04 have cemented their place at the top of the 2nd Bundesliga once again. The Royal Blues won 2:0 (1:0) at 1. FC Magdeburg and thus achieved their fourth victory in the sixth game of the season. Schalke had last lost against Holstein Kiel. They are in fourth place in the table with twelve points.
100th goal conceded for Magdeburg at home in the 2nd division
In Magdeburg, captain Kenan Karaman scored the opening goal in the 10th minute in front of 27,427 spectators. It was Magdeburg's 100th goal in front of a home crowd in the 2nd division. After the break, Karaman increased the lead in the 56th minute.
It was the hosts' fifth defeat of the season and their fourth in a row. Coach Markus Fiedler's change to six positions compared to the previous defeat in Bielefeld did not help matters.
