RB Leipzig are looking forward to Monday afternoon in Nyon, Switzerland, where the Champions League round of 16 draw will be made. As Borussia Dortmund won their group, the Saxons are left with five potential opponents from Pot 1: four clubs from Spain and FC Arsenal. Because Madrid is represented twice with Real and Atletico, only four cities are possible for the German cup winners in the round of 16: In addition to the Spanish capital, these are Barcelona, San Sebastian and London.
German duels with FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund are not possible in the round of 16. Neither is a clash with group opponents Manchester City. The knockout round starts in the new year. The first legs will take place on February 13/14/20/21 and the second legs on March 5/6/12/13. As runners-up in the group, Leipzig will first play at home.
