The basketball players of the Niners Chemnitz have extended their leading position in the preliminary round group H of the Fiba Europe Cup with the third victory in the third game. The Bundesliga club kept the upper hand on Wednesday at the still winless Dutch representative Heroes Den Bosch with 77:66 (34:34) and thus remained unbeaten in the eighth competitive game in a row.
The biggest contribution to the success had Aher Uguak (23), Wesley van Beck, DeAndre Lansdowne (12 each) and Tylor Ongwae (11). For Den Bosch, Roberts Stumbris (16) and Lee Moore (14) scored the most points.
The Saxons had a hard time at the beginning and were behind 12:22 after eight minutes due to a poor scoring rate. Even the 16:1 run, with which the Bundesliga club converted a 25:33 deficit (16th) into a 41:34 lead (22nd), did not bring any sovereignty into the Niners' game.
Four minutes before the final whistle threatened at 60:62 the winning streak to tear. With nine points in a row Chemnitz pulled away within two minutes again on 69:62 and did not let itself take the success any longer. The guests laid the foundation for this by their superiority under the boards (44:35 rebounds) and the lower number of ball losses (12:18).
