Coach Petrik Sander will continue to coach 1. FC Magdeburg in the coming season. This was announced by the coach and club following the club's successful stay in the 2nd Bundesliga. The length of the contract was not communicated, "but it's clear that I won't still be here at the age of 70," said the 65-year-old Sander.
In addition, 1. FC Magdeburg said goodbye to twelve players, although final contract talks are still pending with some of them. Two central defenders, Jean Hugonet and Marcus Mathisen, who were on the pitch in the 1-0 defeat to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the final game of the season, were sent off. On-loan players Maximilian Breunig, Noah Pesch, Herbert Bockhorn and Laurin Ulrich were also presented with a farewell poster. Connor Krempicki, Silas Gnaka, Falko Michel, Max Geschwill, Philipp Hercher and Samuel Loric completed the dozen.
