1. FC Magdeburg concedes an unnecessary home defeat against Kaiserslautern. Thanks to the results of the competition, Magdeburg will continue to play in the Bundesliga 2 next year.

1. FC Magdeburg have managed to stay in the 2nd Bundesliga. However, the Magdeburg team needed some help to do so, as they lost 0:1 (0:0) to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in their last home game in front of 28,875 spectators. Marlon Ritter (63rd minute) converted a penalty for the visitors. FCM finished the season in 14th place with 39 points.

The game then flattened out again, but then Magdeburg's Herbert Bockhorn got a hand to the ball in the penalty area: Ritter converted the penalty kick that was due.

Magdeburg struggled to find an answer, but, as in the previous minutes, had great problems generating clear finishes. Magdeburg's fruitless run remained - but thanks to the results of the competition, the 39 points were enough to stay in the league.
