Athlete Gesa Krause has decided not to take part in the German Championships in Dresden. The 32-year-old does not want to take any risks in view of the season's highlight.

Top athlete Gesa Krause has had to cancel her start at the German Championships in Dresden this week after breaking a rib. Krause announced on Instagram that she did not want to jeopardize her dream of taking part in the World Championships in Tokyo in September.

The two-time European champion in the 3,000-metre steeplechase fell at the Diamond League meeting in Oslo in mid-June. She sustained the injury as a result. "I'm doing well under the circumstances and I'm in full training in preparation for Tokyo. Unfortunately, the DM is still too early at the moment," explained the 32-year-old, who had to give up before the finish at the Diamond League meeting in Eugene in the USA at the beginning of the month.
