The Dresden SC women's volleyball team suffered a defeat at the hands of Turkish representative Ankara Zelen Spor Kulübü at the start of the new year in the Champions League. In the third group match, Alexander Waibl's team was clearly beaten by the favorites 0:3 (24:26, 18:25, 16:25). After the opening victory against the Polish team from Lodz, the Elbe city team had already lost the home match against the Italian title holders Conegliano.
In the first set, the German runners-up were in very good form, served with pressure, were secure in reception and defense and played an equal exchange of blows with the hosts. In the end, the ladies around captain Patricia Nestler even had a great chance to win the set, but were unable to take advantage of two opportunities. Ankara then won the set with four points in a row.
