The Dresdner SC women's volleyball team celebrated its first win of the season after three losses. Alexander Waibl’s team defeated Ladies in Black Aachen 3-1 (17-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-21), earning three points in the process. The six-time German champions, who are playing without their seriously injured national team player Patricia Nestler (torn cruciate ligament), started the match nervously and cautiously, committing too many unforced errors. But starting in the second set, the team from Aachen stabilized their reception and stepped up their game in all other aspects as well. On serve, the DSC women applied increasing pressure and ultimately neutralized the hosts’ offense, particularly with a strong blocking defense (20 block points). National team player Monique Strubbe, who is helping out with a few games for her former club before heading to the U.S., proved to be a key pillar of the team. With 17 points, seven of which came from blocks, she emerged as the top scorer and was awarded the gold MVP medal. Copyright 2026, dpa (www.dpa.de). All rights reserved
