Germany has already hosted the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2021. Will it happen again in 2031?

The German Ski Association wants to host the World Ski Jumping, Cross-Country Skiing and Nordic Combined Championships in 2031. "Yes, we are now throwing our hat into the ring two years earlier," DSV board member Stefan Schwarzbach told the "Allgäuer Zeitung" newspaper.

Originally, a bid was planned for 2033. However, now that the Austrian venues of Ramsau and Bischofshofen are no longer bidding for 2031, the DSV has changed its strategy.

World Championships in Bavaria or Saxony?

Which venues the association will ultimately choose for the title fights is still open. The Nordic World Championships are to be held either in Oberstdorf in Bavaria or in Oberwiesenthal and Klingenthal in Saxony. Oberstdorf has already hosted the event in 1987, 2005 and 2021. It would be a premiere for Oberwiesenthal and Klingenthal.

The World Championships are to be awarded in just over a year. The competitor is Planica in Slovenia, where the World Championships were only held in 2023.
