Dynamo Dresden set another exclamation mark in the Bundesliga 2 and denied SV Darmstadt 98 a leap to the top of the table. The Saxons won 3:1 (2:0) against the runners-up and temporarily left the relegation places. Vincent Vermeij (45, 45.+1) had given the Saxons the lead with a brace just before the break.
At the time, Darmstadt were short-handed after a red card for Patric Pfeiffer (43). Christoph Daferner (81') sealed Dynamo's third home win of the season in front of 30,460 spectators. Yusuke Furukawa (90') only managed to add the final goal for Hesse. Dresden's Jakob Lemmer (53) was shown the yellow card for two fouls within 60 seconds.
