The Chemnitz basketball team suffered its second loss in the EuroCup. After a strong start, they faltered significantly in Podgorica and then spent the rest of the game trying in vain to close the gap.

The Niners Chemnitz, a team in the German Basketball Bundesliga, suffered a setback in the EuroCup. After four straight wins, Coach Rodrigo Pastore’s team lost 84–96 (44–49) to the top Montenegrin club Buducnost Podgorica. Nighael Ceaser was the top scorer for the Saxons with 18 points.

The Chemnitz team started the game confidently and quickly took a 10–2 lead (3rd minute). However, their offense subsequently became increasingly erratic. By the end of the first quarter, the visitors had already committed seven turnovers. Because Podgorica also became increasingly effective at exploiting its height advantage starting in the second quarter, the Bundesliga team trailed by five points at halftime.

After the break, Chemnitz brought more structure back into their game but were unable to close the gap significantly because they allowed the hosts too many second-chance shots. In the closing minutes, Podgorica pulled away decisively with a 7-0 run to make it 88-77 (39th minute).
