Yan Diomande is eagerly awaiting the Ivory Coast's knockout match against Norway. But there's also a lot at stake for the forward at the club level these days.

According to media reports, highly sought-after striker Yan Diomande of the Ivory Coast decided during the World Cup to transfer from RB Leipzig to Paris Saint-Germain. According to the television networks Sky and RMC, as well as transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 19-year-old is said to have agreed to a five-year contract with the Champions League winner.

For the transfer to take place after the current World Cup, PSG must still reach an agreement with Leipzig on the transfer fee. Both clubs are reportedly already in talks. Liverpool FC is also said to have shown great interest in Diomande. According to media reports, RB Leipzig rejected an offer from the Reds worth 100 million euros.

“Not for sale, no matter the price”

Leipzig’s supervisory board chairman, Oliver Mintzlaff, told Sky in April that he was “completely relaxed” about the situation: “If I were the sporting director, I wouldn’t sell this young player—who hasn’t even been with us for a full season yet—no matter what price is offered.”

Diomande is under contract with RB until 2030; there is no buyout clause in his contract. Leipzig is currently working to extend Diomande’s contract with improved terms.

Transfer profit would be substantial

RB signed the highly talented player just a year ago for 20 million euros from the Spanish second-division club CD Leganés. His performances quickly caught the attention of top European clubs, and rumors repeatedly surfaced that the Ivorian might leave the Bundesliga after just his first season. Especially since Diomande makes no secret of the fact that potential suitors like Liverpool and PSG are among his favorite teams.

For now, however, Diomande wants to advance to the Round of 16 with the Ivory Coast. To do so, Germany’s group opponent must defeat the Norwegians—led by star striker Erling Haaland—in the first knockout round at Dallas Stadium on Tuesday (7:00 p.m./ARD and MagentaTV).
