Magdeburg is bolstering its offense with a young South Korean player. He could also have a future on defense. The eighth new signing is expected to get plenty of playing time.

1. FC Magdeburg has announced its eighth new signing: South Korean Chunghyun Lee. The 18-year-old attacking player is on loan from Bucheon FC 1995 for this season. In addition, the second-division soccer club secured an option to buy him at the end of the loan period.

“The Asian market is strategically very exciting for us. We’ve recently been taking a close look at South Korean soccer and have identified many interesting player profiles there. Chunghyun brings strong technical skills, high game intelligence, and plenty of potential for development,” said FCM sporting director Peer Jaekel about the 1.77-meter-tall winger.

Long-term potential in defense

Jaekel emphasized that the club also sees long-term potential for the young player in the fullback position. “We’ll give him the time he needs to adjust to his new environment and want to make his transition to FCM as smooth as possible. In the long term, we’re confident we’ll be able to benefit from his athletic qualities,” said Jaekel.
