Just in time for the final spurt of the season, 1. FC Magdeburg has rediscovered its home strength. For the first time this season, FCM were able to celebrate two home wins in a row. And even better: for the first time since January, the score is back to zero. The only annoying thing about the 2-0 win against Fortuna Düsseldorf was that top scorer Mateusz Zukowski picked up his fifth yellow card for an unnecessary foul. The Pole will therefore be suspended against Nuremberg.
Goal-scorer must take a break
The FCM will have to do without goal-scorer Zukowski in Nuremberg, but the past few weeks have also shown that his teammates know where the goal is. In addition to the top scorer, four other players have scored in the last four games. A bit of variability in attack and the regained home strength with at least seven points from the last three home games is good for Magdeburg. Nevertheless, the situation in the basement remains tight. "We're right on target and I'm still convinced of that - 33 points aren't enough," explained Sander.
