1. FC Magdeburg suffered their heaviest home defeat in Bundesliga 2 and lost further ground in the promotion race. In front of 26,800 spectators, the team from the Elbe city lost 5-0 (0-3) to relegation-threatened SC Preußen Münster. Jano ter Horst (12th minute), Marc Lorenz (15th, 43rd/foul penalty), Joshua Mees (52nd) and Daniel Kyerewaa (54th) scored for Münster. Magdeburg slipped to fourth place in the table.
Magdeburg started with the same formation that had scored at Hertha BSC - with Baris Atik at the top of the midfield diamond. FCM got off to their usual energetic start, but Münster also tried to get forward quickly after winning the ball and put the hosts under pressure by pressing high up the pitch. After Magdeburg were unable to prevent a cross, ter Horst had no problem heading in to make it 1-0 - and shortly afterwards, the visitors took advantage of another FCM slip-up to make it 2-0.
