In Saxony, the first babies of 2025 were born shortly after midnight. Little Abdullah was born in Chemnitz at 0.52 a.m., according to the Chemnitz-Rabenstein Hospital. The boy weighed 2,770 grams at birth and was 49 centimeters tall. Last year, 1,409 children were born at this hospital.
Other hospitals in Saxony also had babies after the turn of the year. Bennet was born at 4.58 am at Dresden University Hospital. He weighed 3,480 grams and was 52 centimetres tall. In 2024, 2,176 babies were delivered there - including 1,122 boys and 1,054 girls.
