In Saxony, more fathers receive parental allowance than anywhere else in Germany. The percentage is particularly high in Dresden. The latest statistics show where the numbers are lowest.

Saxony continues to have the highest proportion of fathers receiving parental allowance in Germany. Just over 30 percent of recipients last year were fathers, according to the State Statistical Office. This means that, as in previous years, Saxony leads the nation. The lowest proportion of fathers in 2025 was in Saarland (21 percent).

The city of Dresden recorded the highest rate in Saxony: Nearly one-third of fathers (33.0 percent) received parental allowance there. It was followed by the Bautzen district with 31.3 percent and Leipzig with 31.0 percent. The Vogtland district recorded the lowest proportion at 26.2 percent.
