Internships in daycare centers, care or clubs: From June, young people can get involved in the "Saxon Summer" and discover new professional fields.

Young people can get involved in the "Sachsensommer" project from June and gain professional orientation. The three-week to three-month voluntary internship program is aimed at 16 to 25-year-olds, according to the Ministry of Social Affairs in Dresden. The aim is to give young people the opportunity to gain practical experience and professional orientation in numerous institutions, particularly those oriented towards the common good.

The participating organizations range from cultural institutions, daycare centers and outpatient care to sports and nature clubs. "Some participants have also found their dream job as a result. So you can see that the commitment is worthwhile for both sides," said Social Minister Petra Köpping (SPD).

For five to six hours of work per day, the participants received pocket money of up to 300 euros, it was added. The program is implemented state-wide by the Engagement Foundation in Saxony. Last year, 111 teenagers and young adults took part. There were 392 places to choose from.
