Since the start of the Gaza War in October 2023, Jews in Germany have once again been facing increased hatred and hostility. How has the number of such incidents changed in Saxony?

The number of anti-Semitic incidents in Saxony declined last year. In 2025, 251 cases were recorded in the Free State, according to the annual report of the Federal Association of the Research and Information Center on Anti-Semitism (RIAS). In the previous year, RIAS Saxony recorded 349 incidents. In 2023, the reporting center listed 192 anti-Semitic incidents for the Free State.

RIAS stands for the Federal Association of Research and Information Centers on Anti-Semitism. The offices in twelve federal states document and investigate cases reported by victims or witnesses. These include not only criminal acts such as attacks, threats, or insults, but also hurtful or intimidating remarks and incidents in everyday life and on the internet.

Nationwide, the reporting centers of the Federal Association Rias recorded 8,725 antisemitic incidents last year. That was roughly the same number as in 2024 (8,713), but more than three times as many as in the year prior to the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
