The number of refugees who have a job is increasing. Nevertheless, many are still dependent on social benefits. The AfD considers the benefits to be too high.

Saxon Social Affairs Minister Petra Köpping (SPD) has called for further efforts to be made to integrate migrants. "We need more speed, for example with quick access to language courses and less bureaucratic access to the labor market," said Köpping during a debate in the state parliament. Saxony benefits from people working and contributing to society. "It is therefore our task to make access to work, education and language easier and not more difficult."

According to Köpping, 26,000 asylum seekers have a job in Saxony. "That means integration in this area, which is so important and which must be further facilitated. We have seen a significant increase of 7.3 to 7.4 percent in employees subject to social insurance contributions compared to the previous year. This means that more people in regular employment are contributing to the economy and social security," said the Minister.

The debate had been requested by the AfD and was held under the motto "Asylum magnet Germany - abolish social benefits". According to the AfD, there are too many incentives for refugees to come to Germany.
