The CDU parliamentary group in the Saxon state parliament has adopted its key points for the new double budget. "We are facing a clear reality: expenditure is growing faster than revenue. That is why we must now take consistent action and realign the budget structurally," explained financial politician Jan Löffler.
The paper does not literally call for a renunciation of new debt. However, it does call for a solid financial policy in several places. "The current tax revenue and allocations to the Free State determine the expenditure framework," it says in the principles. Projects not budgeted for would need to be covered by savings or shifts elsewhere.
"With around 96,000 jobs, the state's staffing levels are significantly higher than planned and can be financed," emphasizes the CDU. Posts would have to be systematically reduced by at least 6,200 from the 2027/2028 double budget and by 2040 at the latest. However, the target is 11,200 posts. Posts that become vacant must be reviewed for necessity and replaceability through task elimination or automation before they are filled.
