Jusos criticize "racist remarks"

"We have organized a demonstration to protest against the racist remarks made by Chancellor Fritze Merz. He has not retracted his statement about the cityscape and has even presumed to use us daughters to promote his racist ideology," wrote the Dresden Jusos on Instagram.

Merz had said, among other things, that the federal government was correcting previous failures in migration policy and making progress. "But of course we still have this problem in the cityscape, and that's why the Federal Minister of the Interior is also in the process of facilitating and carrying out returns on a very large scale."

On Monday, he stuck to his stance and, when asked what exactly he meant, added: "Ask your daughters what I might have meant by that." On Wednesday, he specified that problems were caused by migrants who did not have permanent residence status, who did not work and who did not abide by the rules that apply in Germany.
