The AfD continues its party conference in Riesa this Sunday. Following the nomination of Alice Weidel as candidate for chancellor on Saturday and discussions on the election program, a controversial item is on the agenda. The AfD leadership wants to replace the youth organization "Junge Alternative" (JA), which the Office for the Protection of the Constitution classifies as a "secured extremist movement", with a new organization called "Patriotic Youth", which is more closely tied to the party.
A few hundred members of the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance are meeting in Bonn to adopt the BSW election manifesto and to get in the mood for the Bundestag elections from party founder Sahra Wagenknecht. Following a decision by the BSW Federal Executive Board, Wagenknecht is standing as a candidate for chancellor and is calling for a change of course for Germany in terms of economic, energy and Ukraine policy. In recent polls, the BSW is polling between 4 and 6 percent.
