A peace alliance has criticized the increasing presence of the German Armed Forces at schools in Saxony. The number of Bundeswehr events at schools more than doubled between 2020 and 2024, according to the Swords to Plowshares Alliance.
The peace initiative refers to the evaluation of minor questions in the Saxon state parliament. According to this, there were 212 Bundeswehr events at schools in 2020. In 2024, there were 451 events. The figures show that military events are growing rapidly, said a spokesperson for the initiative. In contrast, there is no similar access to peace initiatives.
The Swords to Plowshares Alliance was founded in 2024 and its member network consists of various associations and initiatives.
