This year, the German Foundation for Monument Protection (DSD) is supporting 19 buildings in Saxony with a total of 620,000 euros. This includes a half-timbered house in Sohland, which is a cultural monument of historical significance and, built in 1652, is the oldest half-timbered house in the village, the foundation announced. The building, which is located on a hill, is of "local significance", especially in combination with the building opposite, it said. Other properties eligible for funding include Freiberg Cathedral, the village church in Cunewalde and the Ebersbach manor in Bad Lausick.
The German Foundation for Monument Protection has already provided 800 million euros
The German Foundation for Monument Protection says it has provided around 800 million euros for more than 7,600 monuments across Germany since it was founded in 1985. With around 200,000 sponsors, it has become probably the largest private initiative for the preservation of monuments in Germany. This year, 408 monuments have initially been selected for funding with a total of 22.6 million euros. More may be added. This depends above all on the amount of donations raised by the end of the year, the income from fiduciary foundations in the DSD and proceeds from the Glücksspirale lottery.
