The Semperoper Dresden can count the 2025/2026 season as a very successful one. The opera house announced that it welcomed a total of around 300,000 guests to its opera and ballet performances as well as concerts by the Sächsische Staatskapelle. That was about 10,000 more guests than in the previous season. Capacity utilization rose by nearly three percent to 97 percent. Artistic Director Nora Schmid thanked the audience for their trust and hailed the figures as a success for the entire team.
After the summer break, the curtain will rise on a new season on August 29. The Semperoper then hopes to take its audience on a journey of discovery into the world of music and dance. Artistic Director Schmid has announced ten premieres. “Our opera house is a place of intellectual possibilities and sensory experiences,” she said during the presentation of the program. Under the guiding principle “Imagine you’re part of the performance,” the opera house invites audiences to question their perspectives and expectations and to experience the power of great music and moving stories together.
