On RTL, Hendrik Duryn is celebrating a comeback in his best-known role as teacher Stefan Vollmer. Filming will continue in Leipzig until October.

"The Teacher" returns to the screen: Hendrik Duryn is currently embodying the teacher Stefan Vollmer in front of the camera again. "The new "Der Lehrer" episodes will be filmed in Leipzig until the beginning of October," RTL announced. "You often only realize the value of something when it's over," the private broadcaster quoted Duryn (57) as saying. "I'm very happy to have Vollmer back with me."

"The Teacher" was first shown on RTL in 2009 and won the German Television Award, among others. Actor Hendrik Duryn played the Cologne teacher Stefan Vollmer for many years.

New season with six episodes

In autumn 2020, actor Simon Böer took on the lead role (as math and physics teacher David Ritter) - but after comparatively weaker ratings, the show ended in 2021. Now Duryn is returning as Stefan Vollmer. The new season with six episodes will be shown on RTL and RTL+.

RTL has also already revealed a few details about what happens next for the series character: "Stefan Vollmer had actually turned his back on teaching and built a new life in Leipzig with his daughter Frida (Hanna Barbara Jurgons) and his own workshop. But a stolen wallet, a rebellious pupil and a forgotten class shake everything up - and lead him back to where he is needed most: in front of the blackboard."

In a neglected school class, Vollmer meets young people who have stopped believing in themselves. In his private life, his spirited neighbor Nadia (Birte Hanusrichter) gives his life a big shake.
