At the launch concert for their new album, the indie band Kraftklub shakes the Kongresshalle in the state capital. And frontman Felix Kummer takes a stand.

Thousands of concertgoers celebrated the start of the tour by indie band Kraftklub at the Kongresshalle in Schwerin on Tuesday. The musicians from Chemnitz in Saxony are touring Germany, Austria, Luxembourg and Switzerland with their fifth studio album "Sterben in Karl-Marx-Stadt". The concerts are sold out in many places.

The five-piece band around lead singer Felix Kummer (36) thrilled the audience not only with new songs such as "Marlboro Mann" and "Schief in jedem Chor", but also with older hits such as "Schüsse in die Luft" and "Ich will nicht nach Berlin". It was Kraftklub's first concert in Schwerin.

Message of tolerance to the fans

Towards the end, Kummer addressed the fans with clear words. He recalled the feeling of "not being alone in your own city" during previous concert visits. It was nice to see that everyone was welcome at this concert. "But if you have a problem with trans people, if you have a problem with queer people, if you have a problem with foreigners, then you can fuck off."

Kraftklub is one of the best-known German indie bands and has repeatedly taken a political stance. In 2018, the group took a stand against this with the #WirSindMehr concert when there were days of riots by right-wing extremists in Chemnitz.
