The Film Nights on the banks of the Elbe in Dresden are set to welcome numerous prominent artists, such as Michael “Bully” Herbig and Mark Forster, for their 36th season. A total of 110 events, movie nights, and open-air concerts are on the program, according to the organizers. The festival kicks off on Thursday (June 25) with the City Pop Festival, featuring K-culture and anime.
The response to the Film Nights has been strong even before the event began, the organizers said. Advance ticket sales have been “excellent.” The open-air event runs through the end of August.
Last year, approximately 215,000 visitors were counted along the banks of the Elbe. That was about 16,000 fewer than the year before. A summer that was at times cool and rainy, along with the discovery of a bomb at the demolition site of the Carola Bridge, had somewhat dampened the overall turnout.
