"Saxony Day" — Plauen Promotes Itself in Prague and Dresden

To mark German Unity Day, Plauen—as the host of the “Day of the Saxons”—is promoting the event in Prague and Dresden. In the Czech capital, Mayor Steffen Zenner and “Top Princess” Maxi Schulz will present the city this coming Thursday as part of a celebration at the German Embassy, according to a statement from the State Chancellery. Part of the presentation in Prague will focus on the city’s textile tradition and Plauen lace, which will be showcased by the “Fabrik der Fäden” (Factory of Threads). In addition to Ambassador Peter Reuss, Minister President Michael Kretschmer (CDU) has also announced his attendance. 

Plauen Visits the State Parliament

On Saturday, October 3, Zenner and Schulz will be guests in Dresden. There, they will present their city at the State Parliament’s open house as the host of the 2027 “Day of the Saxons.” The program will feature the Plauen-Zwickau Theater, the “Vergissmeinnicht” dance troupe, and the Vogtland Conservatory “Clara Wieck.”

“We’re looking forward to the cultural program presented by the people of Plauen, who will take the stage in the parliament’s plenary hall—a truly special venue,” said Alexander Dierks (CDU), President of the State Parliament and also President of the “Day of Saxony” Board of Trustees. The State Parliament will be open to the public from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

“Saxony Day” is the Free State’s largest festival for clubs and associations. Next year, the festival will not take place on the first weekend of September as usual, but will be held in conjunction with the Plauen Lace Festival from June 18 to 20, 2027.
