The Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden is also focusing on alternative concert formats in its search for new audiences. The premiere of a concert with a presenter met with a great response on Thursday evening at the Kulturpalast. Chief conductor Daniele Gatti and his musicians had given the performance the motto "Pure Nature" and wanted to give listeners young and old a taste of spring.
Bravo calls and much applause for Staatskapelle and conductor Gatti
Baritone Markus Werba from Austria interpreted songs from "Des Knaben Wunderhorn" by Gustav Mahler and received much applause for his performance. Afterwards, the Staatskapelle pulled out all the stops in Ludwig van Beethoven's 6th Symphony - the "Pastorale" - and was delighted to receive bravos and long applause at the end. Principal conductor Gatti had briefly described individual movements of the work beforehand to prepare the audience.
