Lots of dialect: Saxony's linguistic diversity is celebrated at the Gogelmosch dialect festival - and the Saxon word of the year is sought.

Saxony is hosting the Gogelmosch dialect festival for the second time. As announced by the state chancellery, the festival will take place from September 30 to October 4. Prominent dialect artists and so-called dialect fluencers will perform on stage and in social networks to promote the preservation of Saxon regional dialects. The festival is organized by cabaret artist Tom Pauls and the Ilse Bähnert Foundation.

A Saxon word of the year will be chosen again this year. Suggestions can be submitted now. We are also looking for a dialect word that describes the skilled trades particularly aptly. According to the umbrella brand of the Free State "So geht sächsisch", the word "Rabusche" won last year. In High German, the phrase "Es ist etwas in die Rabusche gekommen" means that something has temporarily disappeared or been misplaced. A jury from the Ilse Bähnert Foundation selected the word from more than 2,000 entries.
