The Moritzburg Festival for Chamber Music exudes a special flair. Music is mainly performed on a terrace of the baroque Moritzburg Castle. And sometimes the next generation sets the tone.

The Moritzburg Festival for Chamber Music continues to recommend itself as a springboard for a career in the classical music scene. This year, the Festival Academy is celebrating its 20th anniversary and will bring together young musicians from just as many countries. A total of 36 talented young musicians have been selected to travel to Moritzburg from four continents, as the festival announced.

Young musicians form the Moritzburg Festival Orchestra

From 8 to 24 August, the young musicians will work on an intensive program of chamber music and orchestral literature under the guidance of experienced artists and give several performances at the festival. The young people form the Moritzburg Festival Orchestra every year and perform in various chamber music ensembles. The chief conductor is the Spaniard Josep Caballé Domenech.

The participants of the academy can be heard at the "Serenata di Moritzburg" on the north terrace of Moritzburg Castle on August 18 and at the orchestral concert "Moritzburg für alle" (August 23) in Dresden's Kulturpalast. "Young musicians need opportunities to perform, encouragement and guidance in what they do. We do our best to give them all of this in Moritzburg," explained Academy Director Mira Wang.
