In his New Year's address, Saxony's Minister President Michael Kretschmer called for more openness and cohesion in society. "Let's approach each other, let's help each other, in the family, in the neighborhood, among colleagues, in the sports club," said the CDU politician in his address from Chemnitz, the European Capital of Culture 2025, which will be broadcast on Central German Radio on 1 January.
Kretschmer highlighted the importance of industrial production for Chemnitz and Saxony and emphasized the opportunities offered by current projects: "With the important establishment of TSMC in Dresden, with the hydrogen center in Chemnitz, with the large-scale research centers in Delitzsch and in Upper Lusatia and many other encouraging and positive examples."
At the same time, Kretschmer referred to the current challenges facing the German economy and the financial restrictions facing the Free State in the new year. "However, our state's economic situation is not fated," he emphasized. Saxony has already achieved an economic upturn several times.
