Volunteers from all over the world are currently helping to maintain and develop the Erzgebirge mining region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Twelve young adults from twelve countries are dedicating themselves to preserving the historic pipe trenches and the machinery of the visitor mine until August 30, as announced by the Montanregion World Heritage Site.
The volunteers are also learning traditional craft techniques in the Ehrenfriedensdorf mining landscape. The volunteers can also expect a varied educational program. There will be excursions to Annaberg-Buchholz and the cultural capital Chemnitz. The motto of the stay is "The world as a guest in the Ore Mountains" and is part of the European Heritage Volunteers initiative. The aim is to transfer experiences to other heritage sites within Germany and Europe.
