Years of lessons will soon come to an end for thousands of pupils. Then they will hopefully be holding their leaving certificates in their hands. But before that, they still have to show what they can do.

Thousands of pupils in Saxony are about to take their Abitur exams. "I wish all prospective school leavers strong nerves and every success for the last and most important examinations of their school years," said Minister of Education Conrad Clemens (CDU). According to the ministry, there are around 11,580 candidates at general secondary schools, colleges and evening grammar schools in the state this year.

Clemens also thanked the teachers for their work with the students. "They have prepared their students for this milestone with great commitment and expertise," said the minister.

The examination phase at general secondary schools begins this year with the exams in Protestant and Catholic religion. At the end of April, pupils will then have to prove their skills in science and German. The math tests follow at the beginning of May. This is followed by the oral examinations.
